Investing in the future
Labour will invest in the cutting-edge jobs and industries of the future that can improve everybody's lives. We will create a new National Investment Bank to fund long-term infrastructure projects, and invest in research and development to create new jobs and technologies.
Putting the national interest first
Labour accepts the referendum result and a Labour government will put the national interest first. We will seek a deal that works for the whole of the UK, and we will not support a deal that would damage our economy or our public services.
A radical left-wing agenda
The manifesto committed Labour to a set of clear radical left-wing policies with a focus on higher spending, tax rises and nationalisation. The party pledged to increase spending on public services, including the NHS, education and social care, and to raise taxes on the wealthy and corporations.
Extra funding for local government
A Labour government will give local government £15 billion of extra funding for next year (2018/19) and initiate a review of local government finance.
